On the Boardwalk

Zones 1 and 2 once again hosted the 6th annual Ocean City Boardwalk Reunion in New Jersey on Saturday, October 18, this year attended by a record 360 Porsches from all over the East Coast. Miles and Mary Cramer once again represented St. Louis Region (for the third time), arriving the last day of the Atlantic coast’s five-day nor’easter storm which pummeled the beaches with heavy rain, pounding waves, and tidal surges. Three days before the event the weather turned perfect, with sunshine, gentle breezes, and temps in the high 60s.

Special display cars this year were Targas and 912s, and the Cramer’s 2012 sliding roof Targa 4S was one of 12 cars selected for a place right in front of the famed Ocean City Music Pier, along with other fabulous early and late model rare cars. Miles learned that the Cramer’s car was one of only 76 sliding roof Targas built in 2012. And at the banquet that evening, the Cramer’s were presented the Longest Distance award for making the longest drive to attend the event.

The drive home was leisurely and beautiful, with high Fall colors all the way through West Virginia and Kentucky on excellent and twisty interstate highways (no I-70 through Indiana this year). For those who like a long-distance road trip (about 1,100 miles each way), this event is not to be missed!
